I will be making separate videos in the future. For now here’s a rapid fire list of the 10 things you should work on as a beginner Photographer.
#1 Clean you gear – shooting with dirty lenses or a greasy camera body can affect the quality of your images not to mention your camera holding experience will be drastically affected.
#2 What is the exposure triangle? How does adjusting your shutter speed affect ISO or the F- Stop? Watch YouTube tutorials that cover these topics.
#3 Planning meet ups and Photography sessions have so many benefits as you’ll be you actively create a rapport with the subject you’re shooting. As well as ensuring your Photography session is well planned and concise. Most times planning is super fun and educational.
#4 Use the rule of thirds to compose your shoots.
#5 Creating background blur (or subject separation) is a technique Portrait Photographers use to highlight their model(s) and decrease focus on their surrounding background.
#6 Use simple backgrounds for headshots, it will isolate your subject and ensure they’re the main focus.
#7 Take the time to increase your understanding of your camera gear set up, the more you know the better results you’ll produce.
#8 In portrait Photography focusing on the eyes is a given, this is usually a big away that seperates Beginner Photographers and Professional Photographers.
#9 Always be ready to shoot and capture candid shots.
#10 There’s 100’s of different ways to retouch photos, find a way that suits your work flow. Take your time fine tuning your retouching direction as you’ll be recognized by your craftsmanship.
