  2. This is a 1:09 video to say:
    1. Click File > Options.
    2. Click Advanced.
    3. Uncheck "Prepare files for faster editing" and "Prepare files for better stability".
    4. Restart Windows Movie Maker.

  3. I saw I made a typo: it should be 'and the Text nearly unreadable'
By the way, I used the free Wondershare video converter to convert the mpg to mp4.

  4. This is not the only way why you can get blurry video output. I had a mpg movie with a resolution of 960×540 (widescreen format) as I only needed to record a part of my screen. When I played this video with windows media player the quality was good (text could be read clearly). When I loaded this video in Moviemaker (2012) and saved it as a movie, the quality was bad (blurry) and the next nearly unreadable, no matter what output resolution I took to save the movie (1080p or even more).
The solution was to convert this mpg file to mp4 (the size of the mp4 file was even three times smaller than the original mpg!) and the quality in moviemaker was suddenly good both in the preview and when saving the file as a movie.
