  1. Haha, just a couple of months later and I just upgraded to the Asus Zephyrus g15 with the Ryzen 9 and Rtx 2070 for $1699. It's not a great of build quality as the Dell stuff for sure, but it cuts through footage like butter.

  2. Hi Matt nice video, Im very tempted to buy this laptop but I would like to ask you a couple of things: First there are lot of complains for the battery drainage on this laptop, and I was wondering if you had any issues expecially with long time rendering or work…, second, when you edit with Premiere did you transfered the footage on the xps or you worked with footage on external drives? IS there a significant difference in performance on the timeline? Thanks

  3. premier color is garbage, limits the gamma, or causes banding. i do not recommend it. A wide gamut display should be used with color managed apps. Premiere is not color managed that well from what I can tell. I recommend either using DaVinci, avid, or AE with a dynamic link to AE for color (or another offline-online color workflow)

  4. Hi matt I have a very tough decision to make. Buying this laptop maxed out would be around 4k more or less. I do have plans on buying a canon camera eos R5. I understand that camera can produce 8k video. Now I also want to capture video game content in 4k off the xbox x and ps5. Would I be able to do all of that with just this one laptop? I mean considering portability is nice to have but would it mame more sense to put the money towards a desktop? 2 RTX 3090's is pretty tempting… What are your thoughts please? Editing video content & photography is also a big huge deal for me.

  5. So says the guy who wants you to click on an amazon link and make a purchase so he can get a commission. I found most things people say is bullshit. I purchased mine directly from dell. Its not what we are told. As a matter of fact, I have always been dissatisfied when buying stuff based on what I hear on youtube. Listen to someone who isn't trying to make a commission. You are better off getting the non 4k 15 inch with an external monitor. Most important is 32 gb ram memory and two m2 ssd drives. Drive 1 the 1tb is fine. For drive 2, purchase it on amazon – m2 2tb (preferable to faster one, WB Black Games M2 as it reads much faster. The faster read is great for video editing. Be sure to get the smaller battery (6 instead of 9 cell) so you can fit the second drive without changing it.

  6. Also if you plan on buying the Dell xps 17 laptop with the maxed out options and its crazy expensive (like $3,840+) wait a day or two and usually the price will go down. One time I saw it at over $3,800, and a few days later the price changed to just under 3 thousand dollars ($2,900+) almost a thousand dollars cheaper for the exact same laptop with the exact same specs. Still very expensive but a lot cheaper.

  7. BE CAREFUL – Do not buy this computer, customer service sucks, they didn't care about helping me with my problems and I have this computer for 3 months and I am still having issues every day. They don't care about the problem and they are just letting the time passing by, I think it is because they want me to pay an extra warranty. If you are thinking in make an investment in a new computer, I highly recommend do not buy this computer. OVERHEATING, SCREENPLAY PROBLEMS AND TOUCHPAD IS NOT WORKING WELL. I´M JUST POINTING THE MAIN PROBLEMS.

  8. Do you use the touchscreen for some color correction or some editing? If yes, do you use a pen/stylus and what do you suggest? Thanks. Still waiting for my unit same as yours to arrive.
